Waiting patiently for the Second Coming of Christ… Cemetery The Kernersville Seventh-Day Adventist Cemetery and rose garden is located at 740 Gralin St, Kernersville, NC 27284 , on nearly an acre of gently sloping land. This beautiful lot is where the original Church was first located. Today, three of the founding church members are resting there, awaiting Christ’s return, along with William Killen. Mr. Killen and another colporteur sold the book “Bible Readings for The Home” to founding member Francis Augustin Slate . It was from these Bible readings that Mr. Slate and his family learned of the seventh-day Sabbath, and so was born the Kernersville Seventh-Day Adventist church . Twenty-three veterans are also buried in this cemetery. Each year, close to Veterans Day, the church Pathfinder Club places flags on their graves. Pathfinders also clean headstones and gather up leaves. Health Our health ministries are all about promoting both spiritual and physical well-being in our church and in our surrounding communities. Health Seminars It is God’s desire that each of us may have an abundant life ( John 10:10 ), and that means an abundance of physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. These areas of our lives are all interconnected and cannot be neglected if we want to experience total health. Our God has lovingly given us divine principles to follow in order to achieve optimal health, and we are called to receive the many benefits of living by these principles. We believe our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and we must care for it intelligently, so we can fully experience God’s presence and discern His will in our lives. Cooking Classes Build your meals on unrefined, whole foods, such as whole grains, beans, legumes, whole vegetables and fruits, nuts and seeds. These unrefined foods are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and disease protective enzymes and phytochemicals. Eat a variety of plant-based foods of all types and colors in sufficient quantities to ensure good health and to maintain your ideal weight. Exercise Classes Exercise strengthens the heart, lowers blood pressure and resting heart rate, helps retain calcium, increases oxygen, lowers cholesterol and fats in the blood, helps cleanse the bloodstream, increases muscle tone, promotes good sleep, produces endorphins, regulates blood sugar, increases metabolism, reduces stress and anxiety, clears the mind, helps maintain weight levels, aids in digestion, and helps strengthen the immune system. Music "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise." —Psalm 98:4 Choir & Bells Music is an integral part of worship here at the Kernersville SDA Church . It is the medium that leads our congregation into God’s presence during worship. From our children, to our youth, and on to the adults, everyone is able to use their musical talents to praise the Lord as one. The Kernersville Church Choir is organized for Christmas and Easter programs. Our school also has choir groups and bells ensembles that enrolled students may participate in. "O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our" salvation." — Psalm 95:1 Youth Orchestra Do you play the flute, violin, viola, cello or bass? Do you want to make new friends? If so, please join us to praise and serve God though sacred, orchestral music! The Three Angels Youth Orchestra will perform for churches, schools, eldercare facilities and other special programs, as well as share its talents at community outreach events planned throughout the year. Rehearsals are held 2-3 times per month, during the academic school year, here at the Kernersville SDA Church . Adults are welcome! God's Closet God’s Closet is a non-profit community service organization that collects and distributes new and gently used children's clothes, shoes, and bedding. About God's Closet God’s Closet is a compassionate ministry of the Kernersville Seventh-day Adventist Church, serving families by providing clean, gently used children’s clothing, shoes, and bedding. Families are welcome to “shop” for needed items for a $1 per adult fee. Shopping bags are provided. Our mission is to reflect Christ’s love by meeting practical needs with dignity, care, and generosity. Do You Take Donations? We gratefully accept donations of children’s clothing, shoes, and bedding. Scheduled donation hours are Mondays 9:00 am - 11:00 am and Thursdays 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. Please call ahead to arrange an alternative drop-off, as we do not have a donation box. Sabbath School Classes: Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. Cradle Roll (ages 0-3) Kindergarten (ages 4-6) Primary (ages 7-9) Junior (ages 10-13) Teen (ages 14-18) Adult Worship Service: Saturdays at 10:45 a.m. Prayer Meeting: Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. How long are the services? On average, Sabbath school classes last a little less than an hour. The main church service usually lasts around an hour and a half and includes song service, special music, children's story, tithe and offering, garden of prayer, and then culminates into the sermon. Prayer meeting lasts one hour. Is there lunch after the service? Yes! Kernersville hosts potluck lunch certain Sabbaths of the month. Please check the calendar here for those dates. We have delicious vegetarian and vegan-friendly meals prepared by many of our members. Please come and join us! How should I dress? Most importantly, Christ bids us come! If you are looking for what to expect: We do respect the principles of Christian modesty and simplicity in our attire, and bringing our best before the Lord, therefore most members choose to wear attire that is business, business casual, or even semi-formal. Please wear what is comfortable for you. Am I expected to give an offering? No. However, if you would like to give your tithe and/or give an offering, there are envelopes in the pews that you may use, or you can give a free-will offering without an envelope. Both are placed into the offering plates as they are passed around during the "offertory" portion of the service. You may notice many members participating in tithe and offering because of their desire to honor God by giving back 10% of their increase. Younger Kids: We recommend that parents stay in the classroom with younger children who require aid. You'll likely see other parents in the classrooms, and we recommend this for classrooms ranging in age from 0-5. Once your child is comfortable with their class and teacher (and does not require full care), you are welcome to chat with the teacher about dropping your child off at classes. Older Kids: Feel free to drop off your older or more independent children. We have a friendly staff of teachers who can help your child enjoy participating in classes. What if my child cries during the church service? Our church is filled with families and members of every age, so we understand that little ones will sometimes cry or make noise in church...but don't worry, we've got you covered! There is a nursery and training chapel that looks into the main sanctuary if your child begins to cry or needs a break to play. It is located to the left of the main sanctuary, just down the side hall. We love seeing little ones and families enjoy service together, and some sound is natural and expected! However, we do appreciate your efforts to maintain the sanctity of the sanctuary and ensure there are no overly noisy distractions during the message portion of the service. We have many who are hard of hearing, so noise would make the sermon even harder to hear over talking, crying, or loud toys. Thank you for your understanding! There are 3 different ways you can become a member of the Kernersville Seventh-day Adventist Church : 1. Baptism: The Seventh-day Adventist Church believes and practices baptism by immersion. For those who are beginning their walk with Jesus for the first time, or making a renewed commitment, baptism is a symbol of that new life in Christ and entrance into His church. ( Acts 2:38-47 ) If you have never been baptized by immersion and would like to take that step, please contact us by phone , e-mail , or by online Contact Form , and your inquiry will be directed to the Pastor who will meet with you and help you prepare for this important event. 2. Profession of Faith: If you have already been baptized by immersion in another Christian denomination, you may become a member of the Kernersville Seventh-day Adventist Church by a simple declaration of your personal faith in Jesus Christ, as well as have a clear understanding of basic Seventh-day Adventist Fundamental Beliefs .
